Padres make a run at Bay

Espn announced that the Padres are deep into talks with the Pittsburgh Pirates for outfielder Jason Bay. Bay would be coming back to San Diego from where he was dealt to the Pirates to obtain Brian Giles.

I’m excited about his move. I’ve always thought that Bay was a great player. Getting him now would fit right in to Towers buy low sell high scheme. Bay is coming off of his worst year with only 21 homers and 84 RBI’s. I think he would be an amazing addition, especially because we only have one true starting outfielder and he is coming off of microfracture surgery. Do it Padres, make the move!

Jake Peavy

Through all that has happened, the good and the bad of this year, there has been one thing that has been constant throughout……Jake Peavy. Every time we are on a skid, he steps up and wins. Every time that we need him to pitch well, he does. He is the best pitcher in the national league and the best pitcher on the best pitching staff in baseball, well at least it was before CY decided to blow up.

My First Year with the Padres

As the Padres play their final homegames of the regular season I am find myself looking back at the season that was my first with this glorious team. I remember listening to their first game on XX sports radio in the shop of Charlaine Architectual Signage (my first job in this town). It was Peavy vs. Zito, we stomped them handily. Ever since then I have really gained a passion for the way they play and the feeling there is to be in a hometown ballpark. Coming from Montana I had to watch the Mariners play in the kingdome and safeco, which was 9 hours away and we were always cheering against them. I’ve come to love what I have found here in the San Diego sports world. I started out learning about A-Go, Peavy, and Hoffman. I then moved forward to the Bard’s and Giles’ of the world. Slowly gaining knowledge of the bullpen and the back-ups. Then BAMM, it hits me…I know more about the Padres than I know about my first favorite team. I know who has been called up, I know the entire roster, I know that Trevor’s brother coaches third base. I get addicted to XX sports radio, I stalk the BP show and John Contera, then accidentally have too much to drink and holler at the post game show at Rockin Baja. I’m hooked now, I don’t listen to cds anymore, only the radio. I check on the Padres scores before the Yankees, I stalk Darren Smith in the night and draw cartoons of him. I am a Padre fan and I can’t believe the regular season is coming to a close. So I’m making my move to watch at least two more games in this home stand, thanks to XX sports radio and Peavy I won more tickets to Fridays game. I’m there for you Padres and I can’t wait to see what we do in the playoffs, can I say “we” now??? Experience it.

San Diego, we are blessed. Do you ever feel like we can’t lose with Jake on the mound. How many people out there think that the Giants have a chance tonight? Going for the sweep, down the stretch, in a game we need, with Peavy on the mound. Don’t make me look like an ass here Padres by running my mouth. Experience it!!

Stansberry?? Who is this little man from Rice. I feel like I keep pretty good tabs on the Padres roster, but Stansberry got past me. Then what does he do?? Get hit by a pitch and then slap out an infield rbi single. I’m not saying the Padres are going to win…..ahhh hell Brian Giles just popped up, sorry ruined my concentration. We’re two runs away in the ninth, why should we all have hope?? Stansberry!!

Trevor is in, their two up in the ninth….i don’t know why but i feel unsure of this. I may just be paranoid, but I guess we shall see here in the next few minutes. One out, pop up to Greene. Note to self: DB on sleeve of the Diamondbacks also is a funny abbreviation for a demeaning name I call people dealing with a female sanitary product. Two strikes to Arizona’s CY. Pop up again, this time to Giles. One out away. I was a moron for doubting. Orlando Hudson is all that stands between us and a one game deficit. 1 and 1. Another note to self: Trevor has a huge vein in his neck. Strike two…..change up low when he’s ahead…weird. 2-2. Real low change-up, 3-2. Foul Ball. Strike three, a bit oustide but Trevor is 84 and deserves that call. I’m a doubting DB. Sleep well San Diego.
