The Mitchell report comes out today, the world is waiting to know what players they can officially cheer against. It’ s just such a weird spectacle. Why do we want to know who did steroids when everyone was doing them? I’m concerned about who does them now when no one is involved with them. I just don’t see why the public needs to know about the details. It sounds like I’m trying to bury my head in the sand and see no evil, but I just can’t find a good reason why I need to know. Why the public needs to find out all the details of a private investigation is beyond me. I guess we’ll just see what is going to happen with the careers and reputations of up to 80 players past and present.

I just recently wrote a post critisizing the LA Dodgers for picking up the battered David Wells after we released him. Why did I believe this to be a mistake, simply because he had been absolutely horrible for us over the last month or so. So what does David Wells do in his first start for the Dodgers? He makes me look like a fool, that’s what. He goes five strong innings only allowing two runs. Thanks David, I’ll never doubt you again. I’m sure he’ll make me look like a fool again once he pitches terribly his next time out.

Ever since I started watching the Little League World Series I’ve began to notice that they’re all running together. Every year there are the same kind of teams with the same freakishly huge 12 year old “kids” that are already throwing in the upper 70’s. Every year I am amazed with their talent and their skills, but every year feels like the last and I think I may have thought of a way to change things up a bit and creat an even more entertaining product.

As you know the teams that are represented are all-star teams from a respective town that won the state championships of that year and then passed on through regionals. Here is my idea, instead of having the all-star teams of each town go at it, I think it should be the best overall team from their leagues should play. This is what I mean, don’t allow them to make an all-star team. I want to watch the teams that were made in the season, complete with the kids who are horrible at the sport. I was a kid who took baseball very seriously in little league but I was still able to really just sit back and admire the kid who for some reason was involved with little league baseball, but absolutely had no interest to what was going on in the game. I want to see those kids in the little league world series. I want to see the greatest players in the United States have to deal with the kids that were put on their teams in the regular season. The kid in right field who is cleating out his name in the grass. The kids whose parents put him in little league because he or she was homeschooled and needed social interaction. I want to see the teams that I was on in little league have to fight their way to the top. I was on all-star teams in little league, but it was always so serious. I loved playing with the kid who would run away from the field every time he struck out. No all-star teams, just the best original put together teams from the regular season. America would be introduced to a greater spectrum of what little league is about, making sure that the really untalented kids touch the ball the least amount possible.

The twenty-one year old who caught Barry Bonds 756th home-run ball is finacially being forced to auction the ball off. It sounds weird to say that even if he wanted to keep the ball he, wasn’t rich enough to. Sound funny, let me explain. The ball is considered an asset worth at minimum 500,000 dollars. Matt has to start paying taxes on that asset immediately. He is not finacially able to keep a ball that he caught at a baseball game, not able to afford a ball of string covered with leather. It’s an odd little world we live in.
