Well another year of football has come and gone. Emotions have run wild and records have been broken and some others were just out of reach. Last night I sat and watched one of the greatest super bowls I’ve ever seen end exactly how I wanted it to. I read a column by Bill Simmons, who is a Patriot lover, that said exactly what I was commenting on just before the game. This years Patriots are the 2002 Rams. There was no way they could lose to an lesser talented, falsely confident, rag tag team. A Giants team that only had one pro bowler, no team has ever won the super bowl with only one pro bowler on their roster, that is until last night.
The game started off great. Even though the Patriots had the lead at half, they couldn’t do anything offensively. They were unmotivated and playing with no passion. The Giants defensive line was doing exactly what everyone said they had to do, get Brady dirty. They were dominating the line battle and not making any big mistakes offensively. It was all falling into place to be a great night.
I’m not going to re-cap the game because 96 million people watched it and saw what happened. All I can say is that it was a great thing. It was a great thing to see Brady walking off the field with that poo poo face. It was great to see Bill Belicheat leaving the field early. It was great thinking back to Randy Moss’ excitement after catching the go ahead touchdown and how he thought the game was over. It was all just unbelievable. Finally a great game on a the biggest stage. It was just a great night for all the people who root against perfection and arrogance. Thank you Giants, thank you for saving the sports year for me. Now we just need the Celtics to take a dive.
