Bad Night for Baseball in Orie Town

Padres lose, Yankees lose, Philies win, Mariners win, Red Sox win. Translation= Padres don’t gain a game on the Diamondbacks (who lost), with their loss and Phillies win the Padres are now even with the Phillies in the wild card race. Yankees fall to six games back of the Boston Red Sox, who won, also they move to 2.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners in the wild card race. Thanks a lot baseball, thanks a lot.

As a suffering Dodgers fan I can’t really sympathize with you here, but I do understand. I think the Padres were looking like a probable shoo-in for the West title this year, which means almost nothing since the Western teams, and the NL teams in general, look like little kids next to some of their more powerful AL counterparts.

Once the Dodgers pitching went down, it was all downhill. Who could have predicted the young, inexperienced Diamondbacks would be playing so well, or that Colorado would? Weird division. At least Barry and the Giants are rotting in the cellar, so that’s nice.

A few questions from a Dodgers fan to a Padres fan… Why did your GM derail the season by messing with the roster so much? It seems he always overtinkers, this year bringing in a bunch of unnecessary parts mid-year. The second question is, how come Padres fans don’t hate the Giants? Is it because there is more distance from SD to SF? I mean, hating the Dodgers makes some sense, but nothing for the Giants? LA fans don’t hate anyone, but we do dislike the Pads and Giants equally - they’re divisional, and interstate rivals. Heck, we even don’t like the D’Backs, though the Rockies are usually too inept to care about much.

Thanks for letting me chat about baseball when I should be getting ready to catch a plane.
