Drug/Drug Interactions

November 21st, 2007 · No Comments

This last weekend I had the chance to hear a lecture given by Dr. Mehmet Oz, a cardiovascular surgeon & co-author of YOU series (YOU: The Smart Patient,  YOU: The Owner’s Manual and YOU: On a Diet).  Dr. Oz has also appeared on many television programs, such as the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Dr. Oz said that if you are simultaneously on more than 6 prescribed drugs, than there is a very high probability that there is a drug/drug interaction, meaning that one of your drugs may be negating or worse, causing a negative side effect with another drug.  Thus, it is important that you become a “smart patient” and talk to you doctor to make sure he/she is aware of all the drugs you are taking or do some research yourself to make sure there isn’t a potential problem in the making.

Another thing you can do to aid in the healing process is to visit your chiropractor, who is trained to help your body heal without the use of drugs.  Chiropractors work with you, not on you to ensure your spine, the information highway of your body, is working at optimal speed.
