The “Ultimate Blog” Recipe

August 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Hello San Diego!

My name is Lorie King.  I’m a health and wellness coach and a nutrition counselor.  I’m currently studying with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York and HealthCoachingU in Florida.  For the last 15 years I have been studying nutrition and health.  People talk about computer geeks, affectionately of course, and I guess if there was a healthy geek version I would fit the bill.  Books, articles, the latest diet craze and the wonder food of the week that will cure your aliments…I love learning about them all.  This isn’t to say I necessarily agree with or apply everything that I read or learn, but it’s fascinating to know what’s happening in the world of nutrition and health.  I think what appeals to me about nutrition and health is how much of an impact it makes on our individual lives and ultimately our communities.  I love watching my own health and wellness, and that of those around me, improve as we make course adjustments when we learn more about how the body works and what it needs to perform optimally.  Additionally, I love being creative in the kitchen and coming up with tasty dishes that meet the “good for you” requirements and the “yummy” appeal.  One of my favorite things is to help people rather skeptical of us “Healthy Eaters Anonymous” sort of people discover that eating and being healthy is not a life of deprivation and endless carrot and celery sticks.  I personally like carrot and celery sticks, but there really are so many ways to create fabulous food that’s good for you too…and yes, this includes chocolate!  We’ll explore some of these deliciously, healthy creations over the course of this blog.

 As I’m new to blogging, but quite at home in the kitchen creating and trying new recipes I thought we’d start off with the Ultimate Blog recipe.  So here goes:

1 cup of each the following passions:

        *  people

        *  making a contribution

        *  teaching

        *  the self-discovery process

         * nutrition and health

1/2 cup of a sense of humor

3/4 cup of wonder and curiosity

1 teaspoon of a computer (preferably a working one)

1/4 teaspoon of an Internet connection

A dash of typing skills

Directions:  Combine passions, sense of humor and wonder and curiosity with typing skills and apply to computer.  Connect to Internet and let simmer for approximately 20-30 minutes, until a nice blog paragraph forms.

What do you think?  Any suggestions for my recipe?  I’m sure we’ll modify and perfect as we go along.  I invite you to bookmark this page though so you can come back frequently for a taste test of the latest tidbit in the world of nutrition and health.  In the meantime, here’s to your health, happiness and well-being.  Make it a great day!

    Hey Lorie,

    Look at me, I can leave a comment now!! I’m excited to keep reading your nutrition tips. Lord knows I need it, it took me 4 years to realize that ramen was not a major food group. Can’t wait to read more.
