It is interesting that in the search engines, my site ranks very high for Danactive yogurt.
I was alerted by one of my readers today (thanks Ramona!) that Dannon yogurt is about to be sued for its claims about Dan Active yogurt.

I love this product and use it almost daily. I can only judge it by my own experience. I have found that there is no better way for me to digest a meal than with a Dan Active. These comments and others are not being given as medical advice, but are instead based on my own personal experience.

I wish the Dannon company good luck on the lawsuit, and I can only say that if a user of the product did not notice a positive difference after using the product, then why did they keep using it.

We are not talking a massive investment of their income, but just a few dollars. Also, virtually any store if you do buy a few dollars worth of a product, and are dissatisfied with it, you can return it for a refund.

This seems to be another case of people not taking responsibility for their own health. I use the product because it makes sense, and my digestion works better when I use it. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. If you don’t like the first package, return it for a refund. But come on. Do you really need to sue a company selling yogurt? Aren’t there worse enemies out there who need attacking?

If you like this article, please link to it so others can read a common sense article about a tiny bottle of yogurt drink.

Much Love,

dk

Legal Disclaimer – This is not doctor advice, but my own opinion. Read all about stuff including yogurt drinks yourself before you use them, and make your own opinion.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of my grandmas death, Frieda Klein. She lived to be 95. About a month from the end, she asked me to stop doing all of my crazy natural health tricks to keep her alive, she was ready to go. She was way ahead of her time. She exercised, took vitamins, and even walked 2 miles per day when she was in her 80′s.

If you ever run into me ask me to tell you the stories of what chiropractic did to her in her 80′s and 90′s. I could never put those stories on the website because no one would believe me

I reflect on all she accomplished in her life, and what a positive influence she was on me in terms of natural health and exercise. Her long healthy life was a reward for the way she had lived. I miss her tremendously, but thank her for all she gave me.

I remember back in the 1960′s eating protein powder that she had in her cupboard, long before anyone sane was taking supplements.

There was another health food guru who I found out died recently.

When I was in my twenties I heard he was going to be speaking in West L.A. at a health food restaurant. I got my best friends girlfriend to go with me and off we went to see one of my heroes.

As we walked onto the parking lot, this hippie looking man in his 60′s yelled “Hey Kid!” and threw a bullet speed spiral straight toward my gut. I was never a real football player and took it straight in the gut! ooompph!

He yelled “I bet you’ve never seen a 60 year old man throw a football like that!”

It was true. I had not.

When I was around 17 or so I came across a book called “Bare Feet and Good Things To Eat”. It started me on a path that almost 30 years later I am still on. The message in the book is simple. Eat from nature. Exercise. Do not put anything unnatural in your body.

From the pages of the book came the inspiration that in many ways began the whole natural health renasainse that began in the 40′s and 50′s with people like Gypsy, and then grew with the hippies in the 60′s and 70′s, then was embraced and fostered by people like myself in the 80′s onward, and has now become big business with companies like Whole Foods. I am sure that he was one of the major forces that ended up with me being a chiropractor.

Here are photos of him when he was in his 80′s.

Here is how he was when he was young the page is a little beat up but it is his website .

I found that he died a few years ago at the age of 90. I can not thank this man enough for the influence he had on my life, and I know the lives directly and indirectly of millions of others.

I highly recommend Bare Feet and Good Things To Eat. It is the simplicity of natural health that I still embrace today. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Exercise a lot. Go barefoot. Read up on Gypsy and check out all the photos you can find of him. He was always a hoot. I am sure he still is!

Love you Gypsy!

The quick summary is that recent studies have shown that Pomegranate juice and Certain Japanese melons work on the bodies arteries like drain cleaner.

(I have no financial connection at all with Pomegranates or Japanese Melons!)
The studies and articles quoted below show increased blood flow of up to 40% in people just by drinking pomegranate juice!

Please let other people know about this, as the major media is probably not going to make a big deal about it.

Actually unclogging your arteries with juice and melons has the potential to cost the drug companies billions of dollars if people find out about this and it works. Get the word out! Read the rest of the article and follow the links to get informed and possibly save your life and the lives of those you know!

The long story is as follows.

First off, I don’t know if everything that is in popular culture about heart disease is true, and how much comes from drug companies marketing.

The current popular theory holds that you eat too much cholesterol, your blood cholesterol goes up, this stuff clogs your arteries, then you can’t get blood to your heart, the heart starves and part of it dies, which is a heart attack.

It makes logical sense, but is it all true?

The one thing I am sure of is that if you clog an artery all the way, blood can not flow through it, and then the part it was supplying will starve from no food and no oxygen.

To measure how clogged an artery is, they now can use sound waves to measure the thickness of the wall of an artery. A thick wall is bad, meaning clogged. A thin wall is good, meaning unclogged. If you think about it, if the walls of the artery become thicker and thicker, eventually they clog up the center and no blood gets through.

At best the wonder heart drugs slow down the build of clogs and maybe, sometimes reverse it.

On the other hand, an article in Life Extension Magazine, had me stuck in Whole Foods market for half and hour while I read it talks about how both Pomegranates and a certain part of a certain Japanese Melon, taken in a certain way, actually massively reverses the clogs!

(Big disclaimer coming up!) The F.D.A. is very leery of people making claims about supplements that they can not back up. I am simply reporting on others works, and ask the reader to read up on the source materials, ask your doctor, and then make your own decisions. I by the way have absolutely no financial interest in pomegranate juice or Japanese melons.

This stuff, Glisodin sounds like a wonder drug, but its not a drug. What they did is found a super strong anti-oxidant. An anti oxidant literally is a chemical that keeps the inside of your body from rusting. The problem it sounds like from the referenced articles, is that if you take an anti oxidant, the acids of your stomach pretty much wreck a lot of the effect. What these guys figured out is how to take this super anti-oxidant and cover it with a thin coating of wheat. The anti oxidant comes from a Japanese melon. The studies show that if you take this stuff the walls of your arteries actually become thinner in people with arteriosclerosis.

We are not talking small subtle changes. We are talking about results like people commonly having a 30% reduction in the thickness in the walls of the blood vessels after a year of use.

Are you kidding me? If this is true, which I really think it is, it means that someone who has massively clogged arteries, but is not dead or having a heart attack yet can take this stuff and go back to doing pretty dang well. (ask your doctor first please first before acting on any of this!)

That means that again assuming all of this is true, that the number one leading cause of death in the U.S. may about to be radically reduced out by a Japanes melon. That would put cancer and stroke at the top of the list. Based on the mechanism, it might even prevent many kinds of strokes.
Now, the other thing in the Life Extension article is about the Pomegranate juice.

In this study after drinking pomegranate juice for one year the arteries of the group had decreases to the thickness in the walls of their arteries by about 30%. The amount of blood flowing through the arteries increased by about 40%. There is no drug that I have ever heard of that can do any of this.

So why aren’t we hearing about this as the main item on CNN. Why isn’t congress holding a major inquiry on the subject? Why is this not the cover story on TIME and Newsweek. Just to make sure you get the gist of this we are talking about the possibility of a very, very lowcost possible method to REVERSE THE NUMBER ONE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE U.S. by over a third!

If this is true, and the word get’s out, I think this is going to cost drug companies many billions of dollars per year.

Please alert others of this, so the truth can get out. This is not some weird conspiracy theory. This is actually research showing a way to very possibly prevent and fix to a large degree the number one leading cause of death in the U.S.

Please let others know!

Again, I am not an expert on this subject, but want to make sure everyone who reads this blog takes action. In fact, I don’t even sell vitamins in my practice as many chiropractors do.
I thought the battle with the FDA regarding their possible restriction of access to vitamins was won, I guess I was wrong.

The summary of what is happening is as follows. I am not an expert on the subject but want to draw your attention to what may be one of the biggest health threats in the U.S. so far this decade. You can read my previous blog about the vitamin FDA issue for more data on what happened.
My understanding is (a quick summary) that there was an international conference from a group called CODEX to come up with food and supplement advice for the countries of the world. There included in it proposed guidance for the countries to put in their laws that if interpreted by legal bodies who were anti natural health, that all vitamins, minerals and other supplements would be considered drugs if used to treat a specific condition.

It appeared that hundreds of thousands of e-mails to the F.D.A. and congress caused a law to be passed that stopped the FDA from adopting these regulations. It now appears that the law did not contain the language needed to stop the FDA on this.

If you just want to send an e-mail to the FDA on the subject and tell them to do nothing to restrict your access to vitamins, then go here to sign a petition or get an e-mail sent to the FDA.

So if you want to be more informed read the data my previous posting on the FDA and vitamins, and the pages it links to, then read more info on the FDA timeline here.

Study up on this issue and make your own decisions, don’t take my word on it!

(All of the below is my humble opinion. Check the facts yourself, make your own opinions! Don’t take anything as fact until you check it yourself!)

The FDA’s apparent attempt to encourage the classification of vitamins and minerals as drugs has been squashed. It appears that 100′s of thousands of e-mails to congress shut the door on this move to inhibit the American people from access to vitamins. Although the F.D.A. and those defending them state that there is no such language in the new proposed law, experts I have read say this is just not the case. Study up for yourself with the links on this page, and make your own decision!
In fact the U.S. congress who knows more about laws than I do just passed this law to stop the adoption by the U.S. of certain Codex standards that congress appears to have thought would limit your access to vitamins and minerals in the U.S.

This is said to be a quote of the law that I received from healthfreedomusa.org

Sec. X08. Rule of Construction
Nothing in this title (or an amendment made by this title) shall be construed to affect–
(1) The regulation of dietary supplements under the Dietary Supplement
Health and Education Act; or
(2) The adverse event reporting system for dietary supplements created
under the Dietary Supplement and Nonprescription Drug Consumer Protection Act.

By the way if you want to keep track of the actual laws of the U.S.A. there is an amazing resource by Cornell University where you can read up on the law of the land, and is updated regularly. Give them a few days or weeks to get this update online.

As someone commented on one of my earlier postings asking who was “behind” my promotion of vitamins and minerals, the answer is simple.

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND NOW THE U.S. CONGRESS!!

I think a better question one might ask, is who would be behind this, and why did the proposed law seem to appear so suspiciously?

CODEX is a multi national recommendation of guidelines effecting food and nutritional supplements. It is actually was created back in the 1960′s and is updated regularly. Like most things it appears to have had a good purpose when started, to safeguard the health of the worlds population. It appears that over the decades the group may no longer just be a group with the interest of protecting the people as its main goal.

Thank you to any of our readers who helped make this possible. And don’t feel too secure, there is way too much money to be made from the regulating of vitamins as drugs. The forces behind this, whoever they are, will be back.

But we will be ready? Won’t we! – (We being the American Public!)

There is an issue before the FDA, (Food and Drug administration) which if passed could prevent your access to vitamins and minerals.
The basic push behind the FDA’s proposed actions is the thought that if you take too many vitamins and minerals, you could poison yourself.

There is a thread of truth to this, but how many people have you known who have gotten sick or died from taking too many vitamins? The only story I know of about this is when a bunch of arctic explorers ate polar bear livers they overdosed on the vitamins inside 100 years ago.

I myself have found more benifit to the vitamins I have taken than to all of the advice that I have recieved myself from drug companies over the years. For me, simply taking a good quality general multivitamin and mineral has made a huge difference over the years with many, many health issues. I also sleep better!
My understanding of this, is that if it passes then vitamins and minerals will be considered toxins, and our ability to purchase them will be greatly limited compared to what it is now, without a doctors prescriptions.

Now if you need a doctors prescription to buy them, where do you think you will have to go to buy them? Who would provide drug stores with the prescription vitamins?

So who do you think is behind this whole thing?

There is only a few weeks left to stop the FDA from aproving this.

Go here first and read

and then when you are ready to sign the petition go here.
Like anything, before you act on anything above do your own research and make your own decisions. Ask your doctor or chiropractor for advice before embarking on a vitamin regime.

O.K. this one borderlines on the ridiculous, and horrific at the same time. Most people are pretty uptight about breasts in this country. On the one hand we have millions of people doing long walks to raise money to cure breast cancer (where most of the money appears to go to drug research as opposed to prevention), we worship breast culture in the media from Bay Watch, to Victoria Secret, to Playboy, Movies are much more stringently protected from the eyes of youth if they have boobs in them, but if a head rolls off someones shoulders and onto the floor it is fine, and every woman and man in the country is totally in some way fixated about them.

Now with that as the background, there is a nice woman, who blogs, who has a little site about breast milk and feeding babies with it. They promote mildly controversial things such as breast feeding in public. I guess I eat in public, so probably babies have the same right too! That is not what got the legal wheels churning though. It turns out that the owner Jennifer, sells T-shirts with funny breast feeding sayings on them to raise money for breast feeding awareness and education.

One of the shirts said “The other White Milk” obviously making a joke of the phrase “The other White Meat” issued by the Pork industry. She is obviously comparing the fact that there are alternatives to giving your child cows milk, and that you can give it breast milk instead. I find this funny, and in fact it reminds me of the whole pork promotion, that truly actually got me eating more pork over the past 10 years, (the good Jew that I am).

So they actually sent her a legal notice insisting she knock off the promotion of that phrase. Like all great things on the internet a little controversy is always good for getting others to talk about what you are doing, and in as such it is probably long term a good thing for her site, and the cause she is promoting.

By the way I am a huge fan of breast feeding for children, as that is the way we are designed, and it has a huge boost for the child in terms of developing their imunity.

So good luck to you Jennifer and much love, and if necessary I will make a donation to your legal defense fund if we need one!

I only wonder what Google will think of this page when it looks at it

My wife suggested that I blog about the vitamins I take. They are called Chewable Adult Multi, from Country Life. The funny thing is that I have tried many different brands and different types and these do something amazing for me.

If I take them just before I go to sleep, I sleep much deeper, and wake up feeling much better. By the way I have no affiliation with this company and they don’t even know I am writing this.

At least once per month, someone in San Diego tries to get me on their newest Vitamins, and it usually is part of an MLM, something that I have never had an interest in. I have nothing against MLM’s, it is just that I really like to focus on being the best chiropractor in San Diego. These vitamins also are good for me because they do not have anything artificial in them, and they are very broad spectrum in what they have in them.

I have tried taking Vitamins that were much more expensive, but for some reason I always sleep best, and wake up feeling the most healed after these ones. I also do not like to swallow pills, and these ones are chewable. They sell them in all of the Whole Foods in San Diego. Ask your doctor before you take them.

Almst every morning I have a glass of a green drink called Alive. It has just about every vitamin and mineral known to man, but the reason I drink it is because of teh algae in it.

Being in a chiropractor in San Diego as long as I have, I have come to one conclusion. Our bodies seem to run best if we can match the lifestyle we had 20,000 years ago. What would life have been like? We would have had to have been running a lot, from things and after things. We would have climbed trees to get food, lifted big hunks of all kinds of things, and we would have had to drink.

Now I like to drink from the clean mountain stream as much as the next guy, but in all my years of hiking, and watching nature shows, how often is the water source they drink from, or you find on the trail, a clear bubling brook with nothing inside? It almost always has algae in it.

Algae is simply a plant made of one cell that lives together in big groups. It turns sunlight and minerals into energy. Because there may be other junk in pond water, I would suggest skipping drinking it unless you are a water quality expert, but the cool thing is you can buy fresh healthy algae in a bottle.

Whole Foods market who has been so good to me here in San Diego, (They opened two chiropractic and massage centers for me in their stores when they first came to town), sells algae in many forms. I buy this powder stuff Alive because it is fast and stores well. I also buy algae drinks made by Naked Juice and other fresh juice companies.

Drinking algae just gives me the feeling like I am putting something in my body that it has been missing. Chiropractic is not a cure all, although sometimes chiropractic patients, and chiropractors feel like it is, so you also need to support your body in other ways. So three cheers for goopy green healthy algae!

Just make sure you drink the algae out of a bottle from a reputable company, and not out of your back yard, or some pond down the street! I have no experience with drinking wild algae, so consult an expert first.
