Sure the title may not be too profesional! But I really am that excited. I feel so fortunate to be part of history. The internet is really still in its infancy, and the creators of real honest, not just trying to sell you something content is a huge deal. History is being written daily by the makers of history, and not just years later by the historians or the reporters.

Next weekend I will be driving all the way to San Fransisco to hang out with a bunch of 20ish up to I am sure much older bloggers at wordcamp! It is the second year of this animal and I am still not sure what to expect. I can tell you that this group is an incredibly influential group on this planet, and they are not a group that can be easily bought or manipulated. I find bloggers by and large more concerned about the integrity of their writing than being bought off.

It is truly an honor to be one of that group. I really feel the Internet is the first true democracy, and the anchor of freedom for the entire planet. I mean honestly how plausible will it be for any regime to talk about how the enemy country are a bunch of backwards ignorant crummy people, when you IM back and forth with three or four of them every week? I have buddies all across the country via the internet. With many of them, we have no idea which country each of us is in.

I don’t think the cold war, British Imperialism, communism, McCarthyism, Apartheid, Ghangis Kahn, or the Taliban could have ever come into any amount of power if everyone on the planet had high speed cable access and Firefox!

So who knows what will happen next weekend? All I can tell you is I am excited. It is exciting to be part of history. It is exciting to be part of something new. It is exciting to be going to San Francisco!

I am almost ready to make the commitment to go there. Matt Cutts, one of Googles developers has said he is going, and that makes a pretty strong statement.

I have yet to find anyone who has been there in the past, or besides Matt, who is going. So before I drive all the way to San Francisco for word camp, I want to hear some feedback. I know that a lot of word press users will come across this, so I want to hear from you what you know about word camp.

Thanks for the feedback, key burners!

P.S. I just found out it is called wordcamp all one word I think. So I will try this again if you are going to wordcamp then can you please comment below anything you know about it, or what happened last year. Thanks in advance for anything you can say on wordcamp!

It also can be used if you are using tech support or just see something cool you want to show someone. Just look on your screen and find the button that says Print Screen or PrtSc in my case and hit that button.

You can then go into Microsoft Word, or any image editing program and press the Ctrl V keys and it will paste the picture in.

Super Cool tip I learned and I thought I would pass it on.

A wordpress blog is what you are reading. It is a program that helps you make a website and easily yack about different things. This blog is mostly about chiropractic, but it can go in almost any direction!

Adsense are those little adds you see off to the side of many websites. If you click on them the owner of the site makes money.

This article teaches you how to set up adsense on a wordpress blog.

This will work for a wordpress blog you set up from wordpress.org

First you need to get wordpress up and running. Enough for its own article!

Then you need to register with adsense at google.

Then it is almost impossible for you to get it to work unless you have a friend like DAX!

DAX is famous for his bunny adoption site. (This is not a legitamate actual site but just a joke!)

DAX also created the plugin for wordpress that you will find here.

You simply download it onto your desktop.

Then put it in the wordpress subdirectory for plugins, and load this onto the server where your blog is hosted.
Then open up wordpress.

Go to the plugins section.

Click on activate for that plugin.

Go into adsense and find under MyAccount – next to Adsense for Content – there will be a number something like ca-ks-3i3i4i2p23oi

Just copy the whole thing starting with the ca.

Then go into wordpress under options – adsense, and paste that number into the adsense ID.

Set the settings for what you want and you are in business!

The ads pop up all over the place!

I have chosen not to use adsense on this site because I want it to be a great reading experience for the user. For other sites I have set up for other people though, it looks and works great.

It puts the adds right in the middle of where you are reading which can be irritating for the reader, but great for the webmaster!

Thanks Dax!

I have a new experiment!

I am going to try to get some simple help with doing some of the page creation on my site.

I like having control of the formatting of the CSS and HTML.

I only use a few codes, and like to keep it that way for simplicity of understanding.

I am trying to write a list of rules on how I format my pages, not my wordpress ones, but the rest of the site.

Here are the html and css rules I have so far,

I am calling it SHAC for simple html and css.

I am sure I will later find out that SHAC stands for something terrible I am not aware of yet!

If you come across this and read it and would like to give me advice, please comment below. I am by no means an expert on coding. I do insist that nothing goes on my site that I don’t understand.

So feel free to give your input below!

This is a comment regarding the thread on Matt Cutts Blog.

There is a hidden beautiful message hidden between the lines of this thread. With every complaint of the Google algo, means that each of us think we can determine quality better than Google can. That is a beautiful statement in 2007 on the continued ability of the individual to ascertain quality beyond the greatest machine mind that has ever been created. This is set in the context that my wife is currently doing SEO analysis as I write this trying to figure out why a site that sells Prada shoes for $129 new, a fraction of their real cost, is ranking so high in Google and if she should trust the site or not, PR3.

I still think Google should have total transparency. I think we all should. When I first started studying SEO a few years ago, my of my first questions on a major webmaster site was, “Why won’t Google tell us exactly what they want?” In fact I was a little indignant on the subject J

I get the fact that the algo of how Google figures what ranks where, may be best kept a secret to prevent theft of their hard fought for content. On the other hand a precise listing of the targets Google wants us to hit and how, should result in Google getting exactly what they want. Although Google wants to “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”

I think in truth what Google is in reality trying to do is find the most helpful page for a given user looking for a specific thing.

This of course has nothing to do with links, page rank or SEO and in fact the most valuable content may not even have the text I am searching for in it.

I might be looking for a page on printer repair, and find an article about repairing a DC motor that solves my problem and never mentions printers.

In fact I have a piece of content on my site that has literally changed the lives of thousands of people, where grown men have broken down into tears after reading it, and another page on my buying experience when I got my new laptop. The laptop purchase page got picked up by the V.P. of the ex big blue computer company and now has many, many links to it. The life changing page has a few links after being on there for many years. (even after my continued begging of people to link to it J)

This is why I am such a supporter of human edited directories. I assume Google still gives the big human edited directory, and I am glad they do. Even with it’s frailties it still will beat a computer any day. I also love the idea of the browsers feeding Google info on the stickiness of sites, which of course is easy to fake also.

After years of study the Nielsen ratings eventually became fairly accurate for measuring T.V. viewers watching habits. It may not have shown how helpful the sites were, but at least it measures how interested the viewers were.

I know Google has in its roots the concept of links measuring the value and trust of a page, which of course was genius. Long term however if links will be the most valuable, or one of the most valuable assets a webmaster can have, the collecting of these will simply become more clandestine and covert. The days of “psst, hey buddy do you want to buy a link?” Will be over, and a new era (perhaps already here) of “Hey, if I had a friend, and he maybe was interested in buying links, would you know anyone who might, let’s just say understand the value.. of giving a link to a guy, who might, you know.., you know.. “

San Diego SEO is an upcoming field. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

Search Engine Optimization is the study of how to get your website to do well in the Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

San Diego Search Engine Optimization is an up and coming area. For the time being there is not a lot of action in the search engine marketing area in San Diego, but give it a few years and watch what happens. That is why I recently purchased a few more San Diego SEO style domain names.

I have spent a lot of time working on SEO in the chiropractic area. This SEO work was learned by spending a lot of the last few years on the internet on many SEO websites, and going to SEO conferences.

Most chiropractors do not worry about SEO too much, but they should! After studying SEO for the past few years, I know a lot about it, especially as it relates to San Diego. I also know some of the brightest minds in SEO around the world. I hang out with these guys (online) and they have helped me tons with my SEO skills. San Diego SEO is a field that every San Diego webmaster should be studying up on.

For a limited time as part of my San Diego SEO study, if you have a question about doing well in the Search Engines for your San Diego website, just ask your question below and I will try to answer it. If it is a big secret then I will just e-mail you the answer.

San Diego Search Engine Optimization is an area that a lot of people will need help in. Just ask if you do!

We have all the computers up and running, the software installed, and everything in our finance area is up to date. I am learning a few of the advanced features on the program and writing up the how to of each part of it.

If the gods are willing, I will be done by Sunday, and then we can focus fully on what we do best, chiropractic in San Diego!

So off to work now. First I am going to go surfing at La Jolla shores, a beach right about in the middle of coastal San Diego county. I still have not had a chance to get a new wetsuit yet, so I will be surfing with my no sleeve spring suit. People at the beach look at me like I am absolutely insane. It is not bad unless I have to duck dive under a wave, at which point the whole universe spins as you get one big ice cream headache! Then it is off to work, to learn the new Medisoft. We will see what I can accomplish this weekend in San Diego, as always my sights are set high!!
