Medisoft 11 installed

Today I turned over control of my computer at our San Diego chiropractic office for a while to Shawn Barrett of Ability Software. He connected through an internet program that allowed remote access to my computer. It took a few hours to install the software, and restore and install the old data files.

I am pleasantly surprised so far.  It appears that Medisoft has realized that many doctors offices now expect their patients to pay, and also that payment plans and discount plans now exist. It looks like it has many options that will allow us to better serve our patients, and do it in a more efficient manner. As usual the documentation is relatively hard to understand, and is not in the order one would expect to be able to follow it with.

On the other hand, the manual was much, much easier than their last manual that came with the version I bought 6 years ago.

All in all, I am very happy so far with the software, and we are a few weeks ahead of schedule. Thanks Shawn, and thanks Medisoft!

  1. Dr. Klein,
Because of NPI and CMS1500 I am being forced to upgrade my problem-free Lytec 98 and I am trying to decide between Lytec 2007 and Medisoft V11. Did you research both or just decide to go with a newer version of what you
    already had?

  2. A long time ago (10 years) we had Lytec. As it became older and we had more users and a larger data base it began to enter aberrant data into peoples accounts. My memory of that prevented me from even taking a look at Lytec this time around.

There is a great site EMR Update, where you can read a lot of discussions about different software programs.

I also believe that Lytec is now owned by the same large company Per Se as Medisoft is. I am not 100% sure on that though. I suspect then that both of them are going to be similar.

The new Medisoft has worked well. And yes, we used to use Medisoft. Feel free to ask any more questions you have here.

  3. Hello,
Great to find some info on comparing different software packages from docs actually using them. I am still searching for the right solution to the NPI changes-and am curious if you looked at Forte Systems Chiro 8000? I have used a 4 yr old version withoutany issues and while I am not thrilled, I am hesitant to switch. But I am seriously considering Medisoft again. Would love to hear how it has been for you these last few months and if you’re pleased with the performance and customer support from the maker.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi Susan,
I really have enjoyed the new version of Medisoft. Like any software you can not just turn it on and go. The documentation good have been a lot better. I got fantastic help from a guy named Gavin Walker at http://www.medtechsys.net/ who for a very reasonable fee will stay on the phone with you and walk you through learning anything you want.

Our old system was running well, but was about 100 hours behind in being fully caught up.

It took us probably a good 300 man hours to implement the new medisoft, and document what we were doing. That was with the old system being fairly similar.

Ours is all documented step by step on how to do everything. I would plan on staying late and on the weekends for about three months to get it all set up and running smoothly. That was even with great tech support, and me being fairly bright!

    I hope that is helpful.

  5. HI, good to read the notes. I just made the huge mistake of leaving Medisoft and getting Chiro 8000. What an amazing disappointment all around. Horrible training materials, customer service without compassion, limited tech support offered. Does anyone know of anyone who can help me implement this software?

  6. I have been getting a lot of doctors asking for help getting Medisoft running smoothly and integrated with their paper systems. Can you tell me if you would be interested in training, seminars, video or some other product which in a very simple way taught you how to use Medisoft? Please comment below if you would be interested, what it should be, and how much you should pay?
    Thanks!

  7. I am happy with v11 Advanced but want to access my database from my home and cottage using dial up preferred. I would be the only user. Any info? Various blogs and forums say it doesn’t help to have the network version as it is not necessarily a multi user issue.
    THANKS!

  8. If anyone is interested in buying Medisoft Version 11, please give me a call. I completed an online course to learn how to do “Medical Billing”, and even went as far as purchased Medisoft Version 11 because I thought it would be an easy job to do from home once my first daughter arrived. The course was really easy, and Medisoft was the software that the online course recommended…so I bought it prior to having any clients. After all this hard work I’ve decided to go to nursing school to be more hands on with the medical world, and therefore do not need the Medisoft software. It has never been opened, the software case still has the seal on it, and I also have the training workbook. I would like to sell it if you or anyone you know is interested in purchasing it. After reading some of the comments it appears to be the software of choice. Please give me a call if you’re interested. I paid just under $1000 for it a year ago and am willing to sell it at a competitive price. You can reach me at 949-292-1551. Thank you! Devon
