Dear Dr. Klein
I have suffered from “exercise induced asthma” for most of my 29 years on this earth. I am overweight and tired all the time and have to carry an inhaler with me wherever I go for fear of having an asthma attack at the slightest physical effort.
Yesterday you gave me my first adjustment in your office (although not my first adjustment ever) and then asked me to take a walk. As I rounded the corner and looked down the steep hill toward the ocean, I became nervous. “Uh-oh” I thought, but decided to just pay attention to how my body felt and do what you asked me. After all I’ve hade so many asthma attacks that even though I was nervous about getting one on the way way back to your office I knew I could “handle another one” if I had to.
As I walked down to the ocean I noticed all sorts of areas and muscles that didn’t feel right. I realized this was because they had been corrected and the discomfort was actually from them being “not right” for so long.
The most amazing thing was that on the way up the hill back to your office, my brain was looking for an asthma attack but my body wouldn’t give it. I could feel all the capacity for air my lungs had (had probably significantly improved) and could also feel how weak the muscles of my rib cage were. I had to “workout” to take a full breath! It was wonderful to physically feel that there is really nothing wrong with me that cannot be corrected.
I have had to take at least a few puffs of my inhaler almost every night for the past six years. I am happy to report that after one adjustment I went right to bed and slept peacefully all night long without my inhaler. I even walked through dust and high-pollen areas yesterday without even a symptom of an attack. I am looking forward to embracing physical freedom with your help. I’m still breathing!
